Based in Vlissingen in the heart of Dutch shipbuilding territory, Amels is the acknowledged leader in premium, semi-custom construction of luxury motoryachts. Amels’ LIMITED EDITIONS concept has proven phenomenally successful, even in the challenging economic climate of recent years. Bridging the gap between custom and semi-custom, the Tim Heywood-designed LIMITED EDITIONS yachts range in size from 180 feet to 242 feet (650 to 1720 Gross Tons).
Over the past four years the company has recorded a steady growth in annual turnover of approximately 10%; this is exceptional within the industry. Amels has now become the largest superyacht builder in the Netherlands. Notable industry benchmarks delivered by Amels in the past decade include IMAGINE, DENIKI, ILONA and LADY ANNE. The company has more than 350 full-time employees, with about 500 people working at the yard including sub-contractors. With 55,000 square metres of yard space, of which 40,000 is undercover, the Amels shipyard offers comprehensive refit facilities, with 35 major refits successfully completed. Amels is one of 37 shipbuilding companies owned by the Dutch, family-owned Damen Shipyards Group, the largest shipbuilder in Holland with approximately 6,000 employees and a €1.3 billion turnover in 2011.
