Sevenstar’s Caribbean Yacht Transport Service: record breaking numbers

Published: 17 August 2011

Sevenstar, the world leading provider of yacht transportation services, has completed the loading of 6 full vessels from St Thomas USVI to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The demand for shipping yachts out of the Caribbean before the start of the Caribbean Hurricane season has been enormous this year.

Sevenstar needed to schedule in total 6 Spliethoff vessels to accommodate all yachts. And the 7th vessel is being loaded right now.
The fist sailing started in February with the vessel M/V Spuigracht for yachts which needed to be in the Mediterranean at the start of the spring season.
The other 2 vessels to the Mediterranean were scheduled to sail in April and May. Many of the yachts are owned by repeating customers, who cruise in the Mediterranean in summer and return to the Caribbean in winter. This way yachts are used all year round instead of sitting idle in a marina for the winter season.
The largest sailing yacht loaded this season was a 130 ft Wally, which has been shipped for the 3rd time by Sevenstar. The largest motor yacht from the Caribbean this season has been a 120ft/130 metric tons motor yacht.
The MV Snoekgracht to Southampton carried the largest number of yachts. In total 42, mainly stowed on deck and safely shipped to the UK and the Netherlands. As a standard: Sevenstar Yacht Transport vessels carry the sailing yachts with standing rig.
All logistics for the yacht transport such as cradles, lifting gear and lashing material for the nearly 140 yachts are coordinated by the operational team at the head office in Amsterdam.
