Specialist sailing yacht and motorboat shipping company Sevenstar was title sponsor of the Round Britain and Ireland Race held in late August. An international fleet of 30 yachts lined up for the start of the non-stop course that covered some 1,802 nautical miles. “This event is one of the toughest tests I have experienced in my sailing career and also one of the most fulfilling,” commented Sevenstar Managing Director Richard Klabbers, who was one of the competitors in the race.
The fully crewed race is open to IRC, IMOCA 60s, Class 40s and Multihulls who sail clockwise around Britain and Ireland, starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The diverse international fleet ranged from seasoned RORC members with 25 Fastnet Races under their belt to groups of friends and family. A virtual Sevenstar game also allowed non-participants to join the race and track the real-time adventures of the sailors on the course.
